WPT Cambodia 2026 Kicks Off At NagaWorld With Strong Opening Day Action
WPT Cambodia 2026 officially kicked off on January 21 at the world-class NagaWorld in Phnom Penh, Cambodia . Running through February 9, the 20-day festival opened with three starting events and one satellite, giving early arrivals plenty of action on Day 1.

NagaWorld Superstack Draws 185 Entries On Opening Day

After nearly 12 hours of play, Event #1: NagaWorld Superstack attracted a strong field of 185 entries, generating a prize pool of $63,936. The two-day event played through 21 levels on Day 1, ending with 18 players remaining, all safely in the money.
The bubble burst midway through Level 20 when Hoai Linh Tran became the stone bubble. Tran moved all in preflop for 212,000 chips (13 big blinds) with pocket tens and was called by Kunal Patni , who held pocket jacks. No ten appeared on the board, sending Tran out one spot shy of the payouts and locking up a cash for the remaining 23 players.

Play continued until the end of Level 21, with 18 players advancing to Day 2. Canada’s Somphone Ung bagged the chip lead and was the only player to reach seven figures, finishing with 1,105,000 chips (55 big blinds). He is followed by Leonid Poles with 985,000 (49 big blinds), while Mr. Rohit sits third with 970,000 chips (49 big blinds).
Day 2 resumes today at 11:30 AM, where the field will play down to a champion. The winner will take home $15,761 and the first trophy of the series.

PLO Mini Championship Begins With 44 Entries

Pot-Limit Omaha action also got underway on opening day with PLO Mini Championship Day 1A, which attracted 44 entries. Play concluded with six players remaining, all already in the money. Ramprasad Arunagiri leads the final six heading into the restart, returning with 217,500 chips.
For players still looking to join the PLO action, Day 1B will run today at 11:30 AM with the same $300 buy-in. The event features a 20,000 starting stack and 25-minute blind levels, with registration remaining open until 2:45 PM (local time). Play will continue until the money is reached.
All survivors from Day 1A and Day 1B will return later today for Final Day at 7:00 PM (local time) on January 22, where they will compete for the title and the trophy.

The final event of the day was Event #3: Superstack Turbo, which saw 57 entries for a $200 buy-in, creating a prize pool of $9,576.
After navigating the fast-paced field, Vicent Mari Yern emerged victorious. Yern defeated Abhishek Ramesh in heads-up play to capture the title and the $2,873 top prize, becoming the first trophy winner of WPT Cambodia 2026.

Superstack Turbo attracted 57 entries for a $200 buy-in, generating a $9,576 prize pool. High roller action also gets underway today with the first high-stakes event of the series, the Single Day Megastack Mini High Roller, starting at 12:30 PM.
