Double Knockout Drama: Haoting Chao Cruises to Chip Lead on Day 1C

The curtain officially dropped on Day 1C of the LPT-sponsored Master NLH after over 12 hours of grueling play at the acclaimed Red Space venue.

The prestigious event drew 371 entries on Day 1C, with 56 players securing a share of the prize pool and 38 survivors advancing to Day 2.

By midday of Day 1C, the impressive turnout had officially smashed the guaranteed prize pool of TWD 5 million. When Day 1C concluded, Day 1D was still underway, inducing a 184-entry field and bringing the total turnout to an impressive 867 entries. Nineteen survivors from the final opening flight will join the Day 2 charge.

Leading the charge is Taiwan’s Haoting Chao, holding a dominant stack of 1,204,000 chips. Chao was the only player to surpass the one-million mark by the end of the day, firmly seizing the chip lead with a late-night surge and scoring a dramatic double knockout in the penultimate level.

In a three-way all-in pot, Chao’s pocket jacks ran into Chaehun Ryu’s pocket sevens and Juwan Moon’s pocket aces. The board delivered a miracle river jack, giving Chao a set and sending both tablemates to the rail simultaneously. Chao sat firmly atop the chip counts immediately after the hand as the runaway chip leader of Day 1C.

Sitting second on the leaderboard is Pyeongkang Kim of South Korea with a hefty stack of 607,000, while Taiwan’s Tawei Wang rounds out the top three with a healthy stack of 597,000.

Day 1C Highlights

The player to fall just before hand-for-hand play kicked in for the money was Taiwan’s Se Wei Ku. When the field was down to 59 players, Ku collided with his countryman Ori Kossonogi.

Ku maintained his check-call strategy to the river, where Kossonogi slid out a pile of blue chips covering Ku’s remaining stack. After tanking for a long time, Ku eventually opted to call.

Unfortunately for Ku, his flopped pair of kings wasn’t enough against Kossonogi’s flopped two pair. His exit marked the start of hand-for-hand play in the field.

Se Wei Ku

The next player to exit the field was Taiwan’s Rueihong Chien, who found himself at risk against the Philippines’ Martin Barril. Chien shoved with ace-four suited, running straight into Barril’s pocket jacks.

Chien picked up additional outs on the flop with a flush draw; however, Fortuna did not smile upon him, as the runout bricked out. His ace-high was cracked by Barril’s hooks, sending Chien out of the field.

Rueihong Chien

At stone bubble time, Lo Cheng Yen ran into trouble and couldn’t find a way to turn it around against Juwan Moon. In the first hand, Yen called Moon’s shove, and his pocket jacks ran into Moon’s pocket aces. The board ran clean, locking up a crucial pot for Moon and leaving Yen crippled with just 9,000 chips.

In the very next hand, Yen shoved his last 9,000 and was called by Moon and Kuan Ying Chen. Both of his opponents checked through the board to showdown.

Moon then revealed a turned pair of jacks, besting Chen’s flopped pair of deuces and Yen’s pocket sevens. Just like that, Yen hit the rail as the bubble boy of the day, being the last player to leave the field empty-handed.

The Day 2 bubble boy was Kuwait’s Saud Aldaghaisham, who had been tottering on the brink of elimination since the money bubble and eventually ran into misfortune.

Aldaghaisham shoved with king-queen and clashed with Pyeongkang Kim’s king-jack. While his queen kicker looked poised to secure a tournament-pronglong double-up, the board ran out with a double pair, resulting in a chop pot and leaving some chips in Kim’s stack.

In the following hand, Aldaghaisham moved all in again in the big blind and was called by three of his tablemates. Kim sent a flop bet, forcing the other callers to fold. Kim then revealed flopped trip kings, beating Aldaghaisham’s five-high. With the runout coming clean, Aldaghaisham was sent to the rail in ruthless fashion, bursting the Day 2 bubble.

Aldaghaisham’s exit capped off the night for Day 1C of the LPT-sponsored TWD 15,000 Master. Across the four opening flights, 89 warriors will reunite for the first time at the esteemed Red Space venue at 13:00 local time to battle for ultimate glory tomorrow, February 4.

With the prime event, TWD 9,000 Main Event resuming with Day 1C at 15:00 local time, the venue is set to explode with more electrifying action.

Stone Day 2 Bubble Drama Ends Aldaghaisham’s Run

With the field down to 39 players remaining, stone bubble time for a Day 2 seat arrived.

Saud Aldaghaisham shoved from under the gun for 14,000, and Pyeongkang Kim three-bet to 30,000 from early position. After a string of folds around the table, Aldaghaisham was left at risk against Kim.

Aldaghaisham picked up the lead with the stronger queen kicker and held control on the 4♣ 7♣ 4♠ flop. The turn showed a 6♦, leaving Kim still needing a jack to eliminate Aldaghaisham.

The river then came a board-pairing 6♠, resulting in a chopped pot and keeping Aldaghaisham alive.

In the very next hand, Kim opened to 20,000 from under the gun. Ting I Wang called from middle position, as did Hsuan Yu Lai from the small blind. Aldaghaisham then shoved for 28,000 from the big blind, and all three of his tablemates came along.

On the K♦ 7♠ K♠ flop, it checked to Kim, who bet 25,000, prompting folds from Wang and Lai.

After a raise from Haoting Chao on the button, Chaehun Ryu shoved all in from the small blind. Juwan Moon called in the big blind. Chao then also committed his covering stack, and Moon called for his remaining chips.

Moon started strong with pocket aces and stayed in front on the 8♦ 8♣ 3♣ flop. The dealer revealed a K♦ on the turn, leaving Yen drawing very thin.

Unfortunately for Yen, luck didn’t swing his way as the river brought an 8♥, locking up a crucial pot for Moon and leaving Yen crippled with just 9,000 chips.

When the 7♠ completed the board, Ku checked to Kossonogi, who slid out a pile of blue chips for 100,000, sending his tablemate into the tank. After thinking for a while, Ku called off his remaining chips, risking his tournament life.

Kossonogi quickly revealed his flopped two pair with A♣ K♣, cracking Ku’s flopped pair of kings with K♠ Q♠.

In the following hand, Chang opened the button to 5,000. Lee made the call in the small blind, as did Song Hau Pham from the big blind.

The blinds checked over the 3♠ T♠ 2♣ flop to Chang, who continued with a 9,000 bet. Only Lee came along.
