Maruo finishes off Wei

The dust has hardly settled on the crippling of Singapore's Wei Amos Yi Zhu at the hands of Andrej Nagy of Slovakia when the action gets folded to Japan's Tasuko Maruo and raises to 4,000 from the HJ. Wei, in the CO, 3-bet shoved his remaining stack of 24,000 and got insta-called by Maruo.
Wei revealed 2♣ 2♠ while Maruo had his Singaporean's opponent completely crushed with Q♦ Q♥ .
The subsequent run out made Wei's ouster a formality: 7♥ A♥ 9♣ 7♠ 4♥.
Wei will have to try again tomorrow in Day 1B.

Nagy's hidden set crushes Wei's Jacks

After successfully dounling up a few hands back against England's Ashley Patterson, Wei Amos Yi Zhu of Singapore found himself in a raised pot with Slovakia's Andrej Nagy firing a raise from UTG. Wei re-pops it to 15,000 from the Button and Nagy tanks and calls.
The flop goes 4♥ T♥ 2♦ as Nagy checks. Wei comes out with guns ablaze, betting 20,000 and Nagy responds with a check-raise shove of 68,800. Wei immediately calls.
Nagy tables T♣ T♠ for top set while a shocked Wei flips over J♠ J♦.
The turn of 8♣ and the river of A♠ sent Wei's stack plummeting to the danger zone of barely ten BBs.

Wei sends Morikawa to below average

Barely a few hands after vanquishing Filipino Ruben Clamares, Japan's Yuta Morikawa is once again in the news but this time as a donor to Singapore's Wei Amos Yi Zhu.
It was short-stacked fellow Singaporean Giam Jian Hui who raised from the HJ to 2,500 and got a call from Ryoya Inokuchi of Japan and Wei but Morikawa squeezed from the BB for 12,500.
Giam and Inokuchi folded but Wei called.
The flop is 3♥ 5♠ 8♦ and the action went check-check.
The turn produces the K♠ as Morikawa checked a second time. This time, Wei takes over the betting lead for 10,000. Morikawa still calls.
The river shows the J♠ . Again Morikawa checks and is met with a shove from Wei. Morikawa eventually throws his hand into the muck.

Magnotti pilfers over 40K from Inokuchi

Raising from the early position, Joseph Magnotti of the United States makes it 2,500 to go but gets 3-bet by Japan's Ryoya Inokuchi to 7,500. In the SB, Wei Amos Yi Zhu flats as does Magnotti to make it three ways to the flop.
The first three community cards show a monochrome A♥ 2♥ 5♥ as Wei and Magnotti check. Inokuchi leads out for 6,500. Wei folds but Magnotti makes the call.
The turn is the 2♦. Magnotti checks again and this time Inokuchi blasts 28,000 into the middle. To his surprise, Magnotti still calls.
The river is the 5♠ and Magnotti over bets the pot and goes all in. Inokuchi takes a while to ponder his decision but ultimately chooses to fold, losing more than 40,000 in the process.
