Nghiem Xuan Thieu Sits On Top of Leaderboard Chip Counts After Day 2

Level 20: 6,000 / 12,000 ante: 12,000
Day 2 Chip Leader Nghiem Xuan Thieu

A total of 753 entries made up the four Day 1 flights with an additional 42 more entered just before Day 2 started for a final total of 795 registrants. A total of 334 hopefuls began the Day 2 leg, competing to survive through ten (10) 60-minute levels and advance to Day 3 of the APT Phu Quoc Main Event to earn a payout from the VND 25,000,000,000 (USD 1,000,000) guaranteed prize pool.

When the day came to a close, there were 50 players remaining. Each of them are guaranteed a payout of VND 87,500,000 (USD 3,345), but all eyes are on the grand prize of VND 4,710,000,000 (USD 185,430) that comes with a prestiigous APT Golden Lion Trophy.

Sitting at the chip leader throne with the largest stack at the end of the day was Nghiem Xuan Thieu of Vietnam with 1,703,000 chips. Fellow countryman Do Tien Vu occupied the seat next to him with 1,547,000 chips while China's Jinlong Hu filled the last podium seat with 1,523,000. Hu started Day 2 as the chip leader and still maintained the right course to land him among the top three.

Other notables to make it through include the Philippines' David Erquiaga who bagged a top ten stack of 1,154,000, and Australia's Dylan Foster who will be hoping to spin his 602,000 stack up in an attempt to make an eighth career APT final table.

Dylan Foster

Among those with top stacks to begin the day, but failed to advance to Day 3 were Dylan Foster, Noparat Kongjai, Angunsri Suchart and Nevan Chang - who busted at the bubble at the same time as Cao Tran Ngoc.

The double-bubble Chang and Ngoc chopped the 119th place payout, gaining some consolation.

The remaining 118 players who made it to the payout circle still continued to compete until the 10-levels were done for the day with a field of 50 still in contention.

Day 3 resumes at the 11:30am local time (GMT+7) and will play down until a final table is formed or if ten 60-minute levels are concluded - whichever comes first.

Huang Eliminates Joly

Level 18: 4,000 / 8,000 ante: 8,000

Bastien Joly bet 20,000 on a flop of A 2 9 , and Kaihua Huang quickly called. On the turn 2 , Joly moved all-in for his tournament life, and Huang made the call.

Bastien Joly: A 8

Kaihua Huang: A T

Both players had paired their aces on the flop, but Huang was ahead with the higher kicker. Joly still had outs with a flush draw, hoping to hit a diamond to stay in the tournament. Unfortunately, the river brought the 3 , missing Joly’s outs and resulting in his elimination.

Garson Unfazed by Huang's Bullying

Level 14: 1,500 / 3,000 ante: 3,000
Francis Garson

Kaihua Huang, sitting behind a massive stack, opened to 6,000 on the button, getting calls from both Francis Garson in the small blind and Vladislavs Azan in the big blind.

The flop came down 4 K 5 . Both blinds checked, giving Huang the opportunity to make a smaller continuation bet of 3,500, which both players called.

The turn brought the 9 , and all players checked, leading to the river, T . Garson then led out with a 5,000 bet, causing Azan to fold. Huang, eyeing the pot, began separating 30,000 chips, looking as though he might push them into the pot.

He added more chips to the pile, but Garson remained calm and unshaken. After a moment of contemplation, Huang reluctantly folded his hand, and Garson scooped the pot.

Sergei Korzhenko Comes Out On Top Of Flight B of the VND 25 Billion GTD APT Main Event

Level 10: 600 / 1,200 ante: 1,200
Sergei Korzhenko

Flight B of the VND 36M APT Main Event has concluded with 204 entries (156 unique) generated following six 45-minute and four 60-minute levels, with 66 players bagging up their chips and coming back for Day 2 on Thursday, Nov. 14th.

Russia's Sergei Korzhenko sits at the top of the leaderboard after consistently chipping up throughout the day. He will start Day 2 with 372,300 chips. For a few levels of the day, he could be observed engaging in exciting battles with fellow big stack Nang Quang Nguyen who was sitting on his left.

The Vietnamese professional, with over USD 1 million in live earnings, ended the day second in chips, bagging 323,000. The podium of Flight B was completed by the China's Kaihua Huang with 306,200 chips. Huang continued the great run he is having here at APT Phu Quoc after winning Event #11 Super Hyper Turbo, and finishing in 4th place in Event #28 Tick Tock Boom!.

Kannapong Thanarattrakul

One player who will certainly be excited for Day 2 of the Main Event is Vietnam's own Pham Thanh Nghia. In one of the last hands of the day his pocket queens helped him to finish with 235,600, which puts him into the top 10 chip counts.

A nationality that will be represented well on Day 2 is Thailand with ten players in Flight B making it through. Both Phanlert Sukonthachartnant (171,300), and Kannapong Thanarattrakul (152,200) are two players to look out for on Thursday, sitting in #4 and #2 respectively on the Thailand All-Time Money List.

Other notables to make it through include Singapore's The Naing (139,500), Australia's Yita Choong (121,000), Cypriot bracelet winner Georgios Skarparis (97,100), Sweden's Mikael Andersson (88,800), and the Philippines' David Erquiaga (43,800).

Huang Builds Stack Further with Liu Elimination

Level 8: 500 / 1,000 ante: 1,000

Kaihua Huang opened to 2,000 from the low-jack position and was met with a three-bet to 7,800 from Chun Chieh Liu in the cut-off. Huang responded by pushing a 50,000 tower of chips into the center, forcing Liu to go all-in.

Chun Chieh Liu: K J

Kaihua Huang: A Q

The dealer spread the flop: Q T 5 , pairing Huang's queen but giving Liu an open-ended straight draw for a potential comeback. The turn, T , strengthened Huang’s hand to two pair, leaving Liu hoping for a straight redraw. However, the river 2 dashed Liu's hopes, sending him to the rail and ending his tournament run.

Huang Flops Queen, Ends Liu’s Tournament Run

Level 6: 300 / 600 ante: 600
Kaihua Huang

Kaihua Huang opened to 1,300 from the cutoff and faced a three-bet to 3,400 from Chun Chieh Liu in the small blind. Huang responded by shoving all-in, putting Liu’s tournament life on the line. Liu snap-called.

Chun Chieh Liu: A J
